We got good value for the price. The courtyard was lovely for sitting out with cocktails each night, and inside the place was nice, even though the street outside was busy. It’s easy to walk to the main sights, and handy for trips to other cities. The train station is close, there’s a supermarket next door, and the university is across the street. Our room was spacious, the service friendly, and breakfast was good. The gentleman overseeing breakfast kept topping up our coffee and water before we had to ask. He noticed which cookies we liked and even packed breakfast for us when we had an early departure. The towels were smaller than I’m used to, so we asked for extras, and they were left in the room every day without us needing to ask again. Bathrobes and slippers were provided too.

The room and property looked lovely, clean, and very comfortable. We arrived late in the evening, and the woman waiting for us was kind and friendly. The entrance to the building felt a bit odd, though. Breakfast was a joke. I know Italians often eat lightly in the morning, but they should remember that visitors from other countries may want more. An older man kept watching how much we ate and muttering in Italian, probably about us. It made breakfast feel very uncomfortable during our holiday. I wouldn’t recommend it.

The architecture is lovely, but everything else felt mediocre and made the stay disappointing. For a premium rate, finding only paper plates, plastic cups, and plastic cutlery was a letdown. It seemed like a place that may once have been luxurious but was now being poorly managed financially. The room also felt quite claustrophobic. Check the terms carefully: checkout is between 7:30 and 10:00, which is also breakfast time, and they wouldn’t extend it even to 10:30. The host seemed to live next door, served breakfast, and impatiently rushed us to check out in Italian, expecting us to manage with Google Translate. They don’t speak English at all. It was an awkward experience. I challenge you to find anyone in these reviews who has booked a second time. I don’t think you’ll find one.

I wouldn’t stay here again. I’d told reception I expected to arrive at 9:30 PM, but there was nobody there and every door was locked. I waited another hour for someone to come and let me in. If they’d simply apologized and accepted that this wasn’t okay, I would have moved on. Instead, the person I reached was defensive and rude, blaming another guest for locking the door. Making sure guests can get into the hotel is management’s responsibility. The manager even told me to choose a different hotel if I didn’t want to wait. I’d already paid in full, and being shouted at because they weren’t prepared and her evening was disrupted was awful. Checkout was at 10 with no flexibility, so I left my luggage at reception for a couple of hours. When I came back at 12:30 to collect it, I asked to use the toilet and got a curt “no.” Definitely not worth 200 euros a night.

A really beautiful apartment or room, with very nice people. I’d certainly recommend it. Thanks very much 👍
