Villa helios

The rooms are lovely, and the owner is so kind. The place is spotless, with nothing lacking, and there are always fresh-smelling bath towels. It’s away from the city noise, too. I’ve stayed four times now and will be back again. I can only say good things about it.

The price feels too high for a room like this, especially with no breakfast or other amenities. The garden room has a patch of lawn, but spiders, cobwebs, and mosquitoes make it almost impossible to use. There are no mosquito screens, so the mosquitoes are awful. The room itself looks like a kitchen turned into a bedroom, with the tiles and pipes still there. There’s no reception or other staff, though the cleaning lady was very kind, efficient, and helpful. I’d go somewhere else, spend a little less, and at least get a pseudo-breakfast or better service.

We were there for two days in July, two adults and four kids, and had a good time. The staff were really friendly and helpful, and the basic rooms were around the average price. The basement mini-apartment was functional, though the humidity and moldy smell need attention. A dehumidifier and a piece of plasterboard taken off the wall aren’t enough, it needs a grill. Nothing too serious, just a few things that could be improved.

The beach was beautiful and felt safe, and the restaurant there was excellent value. I’ve been coming to Barletta since I was little, but this was the worst week I’ve had here. I won’t return to Villa Helios, though I’ll definitely come back for the beach. The room cost a lot for what was provided. I booked expecting an apartment and got a room with a bathroom instead. A traditional wooden door separated it from the shared living room and led to the lobby, so other guests, whether arriving or already staying, could hear everything. There was no privacy. The garden didn’t look like the pictures, just net towels on the ground and two randomly placed loungers. The towels and bath towels were good, but the room only had a mini-fridge, no kettle. In the mornings they made the beds, but didn’t clean the sand, so after beach trips it was all over the room. The entertainment area was poorly kept: the pool table didn’t work, the foosball table was fine, and the swing was completely broken. Breakfast was at an outside bar. I didn’t care for the fried croissants, though that’s just personal preference. When I pointed out the room problems, the woman was rude. Outside the villa, at the beach, she was very friendly.
