Hotel Beau Rivage

We loved our nine-day stay and would definitely recommend a visit. The hotel has a traditional Italian style and decor. Our second-floor room, 201, was clean and spacious, with a large, clean bathroom and a lovely little balcony overlooking the gardens, pool and local church. Many lake-view rooms don’t have balconies. The pool area was great, with extra loungers in the gardens. Even during school holidays it felt quiet and relaxed, and there were always spare sunbeds, including after a day out. The pool is 1.4m deep at both ends, good for bobbing around and cooling off. The hotel is very well located, minutes from restaurants and small, quiet bars, and close to Baveno port, where regular boats go to other towns on the lake for less than €5.

The mattresses and pillows were so uncomfortable that we left early, something we’d never done before. The bed upstairs in our two-level room was awful; the kids’ mattresses downstairs seemed a little better. Breakfast didn’t taste good either. On the plus side, the hotel is right in the city center, the lounge and restaurant are cozy and pleasant, and the staff are friendly.

The refurbished room on the garden side was very comfortable, and we weren’t bothered by traffic or church bells. Parking was easy, though it wasn’t high season. The location is great for a stroll around Baveno, and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful, especially when they went out of their way to help us with something we’d left behind. Breakfast was fairly standard for a large hotel. It seemed a little pricey, but I guess you pay extra for the location.

We absolutely loved our room, with extra space in the living area and wonderful views from the third floor. The bed was super comfortable and the room was always clean. Reception and restaurant staff were all very friendly and helpful with every request. The hotel is a short walk from the train station and town center, and only a few meters from the lake and its lovely views. It exceeded our expectations, especially for a three-star, cost-effective hotel. It was too cold in March to use the outdoor pool, but it still looked very nice.
