The staff were so caring and took time to explain each dish and its ingredients before we ate. It made dinner feel like a full culinary experience. The restaurant is cozy and intimate, with only a limited number of tables, so the service felt very attentive. There's a cute backstory inspired by the movie Amelie, and the chef comes to say hello at the start of dinner. We were two and shared everything, including the Milanese risotto, duck magret, and ravioli. Each dish was delicious and generous, and the plating had lovely little details. The chefs tailored our plates for sharing so we could both enjoy the full experience. Each course, even dessert, came with a little appetizer on the house. One of the best dining experiences I've had, and I'd come back to Baveno just to have it again.

The osobuco was good, the portion was a good size, and I liked the potato puree and sage sorbeto. The appetizers were good too, especially the surprising pairing of banana bread with cured meat. They were attentive and offered us limoncello and chocolate mousse. I was surprised the place welcomed pets. It's a cozy, intimate spot with very detail-focused service, and they kept checking in on us. I had the tartar, which was okay but a bit dry. I tried mixing it with the gazpacho, but that didn't help enough. Maybe it's just their version, but I couldn't taste the gruyere. There were no capers or egg, and it felt like it needed something to bring it together and add acidity.

My daughter and I thought it was worth every penny, even though I've seen some reviews complain about the price. Amelie is an intimate place, and the two young men serving us were attentive. The owners clearly care about hospitality and creating a special experience. We couldn't think of anything they'd need to change. We had an amazing time and hope this review helps others consider visiting. Grazie Mille Amelie, we'll be back.
