Alla Rocca Hotel

We had 17 people in our group and stayed three nights. The staff were friendly and professional, and when one of us accidentally spilled water in his closet, the manager helped sort it out very generously. We came across a show at the front entrance, which led us to try the hotel restaurant. The food was really good, and the performance was interesting. Staying over Friday also meant we could visit the Saturday weekend market downstairs. There was loads to see, and it was a lot of fun. Bologna’s center is under a 30-minute drive away, while Modena and Ferrara are about an hour away. We wanted a quieter break away from the city crowds, and this seemed like one of the best choices for that.

The restaurant is very good, though you should expect to spend quite a few Euros. It offers both traditional and more modern versions of Italian classics. Hotel Alla Rocca is right in the heart of this charming little town, with great customer service. The rooms are on the small side but cozy. Highly recommended.

They even managed to get an early breakfast ready for me, thank you! The managers were warm and the service was lovely. It’s also in a very nice spot in the Bazzana area, close to the bus into the city center. I’ll definitely come back.

We booked a table for four through The Fork a couple of weeks ahead, using a deal Alla Rocca had advertised and was still advertising. The booking was confirmed for 20:30 on 1 June 2022. When we arrived, the Maître D' asked whether we had a reservation. We confirmed the party size, time, and that we’d booked through The Fork. He went off to speak to someone we assumed was the Restaurant Manager, then came back and bluntly told us the booking had been cancelled. His explanation was that there was an event at the restaurant that evening, although only two other people were dining there at the time. We asked why nobody had contacted us beforehand. The Maître D' answered rudely that they had no obligation to tell customers when their booking was cancelled. There was no apology or customer service, and his manner shocked all four of us. We found another restaurant nearby, where people were very kind, and ended up having a lovely evening despite Alla Rocca. On our way back to the car, we passed Alla Rocca Ristorante and there was no event happening. The service at Alla Rocca was appalling, and they showed no understanding of how to treat a customer.
