Sanluigi Turin Hotel

The rooms were clean, but I wouldn’t choose the restaurant steak again. It was disastrous, and the salad was just a few lettuce leaves, grated carrot and tomato. The waiters didn’t understand English. I was there for a week on a business trip, and breakfast was the same every morning, hot eggs and bacon.

The restaurant waiters speak only Italian, not English. There’s free parking outside, in front of and behind the hotel, but the garage costs extra and isn’t included in the stay. The room was average, though definitely not up to international 4-star standards.

We had two awful nights without sleep, and the service was terrible. We’d booked a twin room because we’re tall, but at check-in they said the hotel was full and only had rooms with one queen bed. They blamed the booking platform and said a twin bed was only a request, depending on availability. They wouldn’t add another bed because, as they put it, that wasn’t done in a standard room. With every hotel in the area full, we couldn’t move elsewhere without losing our money. They made no offer to sort out the problem.

I was surprised by how helpful and friendly the staff were, and the hotel was clean and had what I needed. Breakfast was good, and I had some excellent evening meals. I’d booked because it was closest to San Luigi hospital, where my husband was after a skiing accident. The industrial estate location wouldn’t have been my choice, but getting into central Turin by bus or taxi was easy.
