Happy Camping Village

The facilities were kept clean all the time, which I appreciated, and the campsite is right next to the beach. But access to the beach is closed after 21:30, and without paying for a sunbed you’re not allowed to lie there. We came near the end of July, when the number of people at both the campsite and beach felt overwhelming. Prices are much the same elsewhere, and there are nicer, quieter spots a few kilometres to the north.

The music is unbearably loud on Friday and Saturday, starting at 7pm and going on until after 2-3am. It comes from two different places, both at full volume. I don't know whether the club is part of the campsite, but guests should be warned, or pitches nearby should cost less. I expected this to be a one-off, but the comments suggest it happens every weekend. A disaster.

We picked this campsite for a four-night stay because it was the only one I could find in the area that accepted dogs. Dogs can go on the campsite beach, but not into the water there. There’s another dog beach about 400m away, where swimming is allowed only from 7am-9am, 1 pm-15 pm, and after 19 pm. The restrictions on dogs at the beach are local rules, not the campsite’s own policy. Stays longer than three days come with an assigned parasol and two beach beds. The pitches have some shade. There’s a shop, a swimming pool, and a nice restaurant, plus daytime and evening activities for children, including a mini disco, karaoke, a magic show, and basketball. The sanitary facilities are clean, though there’s no toilet paper or soap in the toilets. Each one has a shower, so you can wash with water. I especially liked the dog shower, which was very useful in the hot summer weather during our visit.

It’s a small, cozy campsite, though I’d call it three stars rather than four. The beach is lovely for children and almost right beside the campsite, and two sunbeds and an umbrella are included for free. It also feels very safe, with only residents allowed in and out. There are plenty of activities in the daytime and evening, but the entertainers speak only Italian. The pool, shop, and tennis facilities close during siesta, and the shop is expensive. The woman at the information point was kind and helpful, and spoke English. Some practical things took getting used to: there’s no water at the pitches, no soap in the bathrooms, and toilet paper is kept outside the toilets, where the dispenser sometimes doesn’t work. The place wasn’t especially clean, even though one woman was cleaning all day and couldn’t manage it alone. Once we adjusted to these things, we liked the campsite.
