Hotel Venus

We booked for a week, but the room was still uncleaned when we checked in. They asked us to pay first and wait while they cleaned it. Soon after, they said it was ready. When we opened the door, there was a terrible smell, wet floor covered in hair, stained sheets, a dirty bathroom, and even underwear on the bedside table. The packaged croissants and yogurt at breakfast were past their expiration dates. My email said the breakfast buffet and tourist tax were included, but there was no buffet and I was charged the tourist tax separately. The whole place was dirty. I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

We spent five days at the hotel and were more than happy with our stay. Mattia, the owner, is wonderful, welcoming, and always available. It’s family-run and still being renovated, so I think it’ll be really top-notch once the work is finished. The hotel partners with a restaurant 150 meters away where you can eat à la carte without time restrictions. The food was excellent, both in quality and generous portions. I’ve never eaten so well on a full-board plan. The location is excellent too, and we’ll definitely be back!

The worst part was the bed. We woke up covered in what looked like mite bites, with my eyes swollen and my boyfriend's back full of them, so we had to pay for a pharmacy visit ourselves. The air conditioning cost extra, and there wasn't even an outlet by the bed. The bathroom was my nightmare: a dirty toilet seat, the shower only about 10 cm away with no curtain or tray, and no outlet there either. We arrived to find nowhere to park, with thousands of cars left all over the place. In the room, everything was coated in dust, the sheets were stained, and the towels were dirty, one with a tuft of someone else's hair. The terrace was filthy and had no dividers, just bars with clotheslines. When we reported the bites, Mattia seemed nice and said the sheets would be changed that evening. The cleaner came while I was naked, just out of what barely counted as a shower. We asked for a few minutes so I could get dressed, but she said she had to leave and would either change them then or leave the sheets for us to do ourselves. We got back late and had to make the bed ourselves. Breakfast was just biscuits that seemed days old. There was a spider in a piece of cake and a drowned ant in the juice jug. When I asked for lactose-free milk, I was told they didn't have any. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone. Our vacation was a nightmare. I hope it gets inspected and closed as soon as possible.

Our room could have been cleaner, but we still had a really pleasant three-day stay. The owner was so kind and helpful, always taking care of our requests with a smile. Breakfast was generous, and getting warm croissants brought right to the table was a real treat. You can see how much he cares about his work and the hotel. Thank you!
