Antico Borgo

The location was good, but we only stayed a week before deciding to move to another hotel. We had planned to stay for a few months, and the old brown tiles, dated design, building, and rooms didn’t feel right for that length of time. I never saw anyone at reception during the week. We were given just one towel for two guests, and when I asked for things or sent questions on WhatsApp, they didn’t reply promptly. Instead, the answers were printed and left by my door the next day. It would have been much easier to reply on WhatsApp. We had luggage, and the mini elevator could fit either us or the bags, but not both.

The room with the gold walls had a soft bed and a modern kitchen. I had a great two days here with my friends, lots of fun in a beautiful city. I recommend coming here.

We arrived late, but the manager met us at 23:00 without any problem and explained what was nearby. The apartments were comfortable, and the management was very supportive. It’s a really nice place in a convenient spot, close to the center and tourist sights.

The room was right on the street, and I could hear everything outside. Cars and people walking right up to my door woke me several times. The door had only one lock, the air conditioning barely worked, and with just one window, in the bathroom, the room felt suffocating. There was mold all over the bathroom, as the photos show, and holes in the tablecloth. Maybe they were from rats? I don’t know. I’d made the reservation months ahead and checked that I could check in after regular hours at their restaurant, and that it would be open for food. I checked again on arrival evening, and the woman on the phone confirmed, then immediately hung up. When I got there at 22:15, the man at the restaurant said he knew nothing about it and implied I was lying. I hadn’t eaten for almost 10 hours and told him it was unacceptable that the restaurant was closed after I’d confirmed it would stay open until 23:00. He said I sounded angry, got even ruder, and called me a horrible person and a child. He told me to find pizza at 22:30 in a city I didn’t know. He did offer a panini, but once I realized I had no choice but to accept the situation, he simply refused to check me in. He said he didn’t care about my 50 EUR, though it was more than that, because he made 250 a day. Then he talked about me to every customer as if I weren’t there, and they all turned to look at me. He also insisted I pay everything upfront. When I objected, he said I could sleep in the street. With literally no choice, I paid and went to my room. At checkout, they kept me waiting for over an hour. They didn’t answer the bell or my messages on the app or Booking. I nearly missed my flight and had no time for breakfast or lunch. I even told Booking that, just to end the nightmare, I was willing to apologize if I had offended them at check-in. They ignored that too. I’ve never written a review like this. I tried my best to find a solution with the property and Booking, but got nowhere. Please stay away for your own good.
