Gatto Bianco Le Mura

Just a few minutes from the town center, the location is excellent. The rooms were clean and cared for, with comfortable beds, a large internet-connected TV, and notably fast Wi-Fi. I'd avoid the basement rooms, though, since their bathrooms can develop an unpleasant smell. You can hear church bells nearby every thirty minutes. They weren't too loud, and I actually found them soothing. I would recommend the property.

The location is lovely, but check-in is managed through an app, and the instructions arrive by email in Italian. If you don't understand the message or download the app, you can get to the door and find no one there to let you in because it's self check-in. There was also a noise from a hallway sensor every night. I could hear it in my room at 1 am, and as a light sleeper I found it really annoying. On top of that, the soap in the bathroom had already been used, with a hair on it. I care about saving the planet, but I don't want to use soap left by a stranger. Disappointed for what I paid.

We arrived in the middle of the night, so Gatto Bianco was convenient because you can check in through its app. A taxi from the airport took us straight to the door for 26€. We had room 2 on the zero floor. This is already my fourth time booking Gatto Bianco because it's so convenient and I trust the chain. The room was very comfortable and luxurious, with AC, spotless furnishings, and Wi-Fi that connected automatically. Thank you, Gatto Bianco! The location is excellent, and in the morning you can have breakfast or lunch in Citta Alta before continuing your trip. But you can hear the neighbors very clearly, from music and late arrivals around midnight to morning sex at 5 am. It's not suited to anyone who wants a quiet night's sleep.

The only good thing about this hotel is the location, a 5-7 minute walk from the funicular. For 187€ a night, I expected a clean, pleasant room and service that cared about its customers. Instead, I got a semi-basement room with small windows looking onto the parking area and road. When I arrived in the afternoon, there was already a faint sewer smell in the bathroom. I left my luggage and went for a walk, but when I came back in the evening the smell had spread through the room and was so strong I couldn't sleep in it. I asked customer service to change my room and explained why. They said that wasn't possible and offered a 50% refund. They refused a full refund, as if I should give them 187€ just because I disliked the smell. Since it was late, I had to stay that night and look for another hotel for the next one. Checkout was at 10.00 and check-in at the other hotel was at 15.00. When I asked to leave my luggage there until evening, they refused that too. Their room smelled of sewage, but apparently that was MY problem, not theirs. The service was terrible and showed no customer care. I sent a complaint to the European Customer Center. I don't recommend this hotel.
