Camping I Melograni

Most guests seem to be long-term Italian campers, and there’s little separation between the small pitches. Cars have to stay outside. The toilets and bathrooms are clean, but it’s very loud: there’s a church with open-air worship every day and a playground open until 11 pm.

The new Lilac-style house was lovely, with a small terrace. Staff were friendly and quick to help with anything we needed. The problem was its location, close to the bar, playground, and pool. Quiet hours during the day and at night weren’t enforced. They announced the two-hour break at about 1:30 PM, but the usual rude people carried on as they pleased. At dinner, the entertainment music was so loud we couldn’t stay indoors.

We booked a tent pitch before mid-August. It was very spacious, with hot water and electricity included, and there’s a guest parking lot opposite the main entrance since vehicles can only enter a pitch for loading and unloading. The grounds are well organized, with village streets named after flowers, and the reception staff were welcoming and helpful. The pool is large, and there’s a bar, food market, bottled water, and good entertainment that kept the children engaged. Bungalows are also available and look modern, with air conditioning. The recycling collection worked efficiently, and the waste collector emptied the bins regularly. The bathrooms were fairly clean, but I never found toilet paper or soap. For the pitch price, I think those should be provided. Overall, it was good, and the campsite is near the sea.

Two bicycles disappeared during the night, and our son had an upsetting encounter with a resident who physically confronted him in a way we found unacceptable. We’re considering taking the matter to the authorities. The next day, we packed up, paid what we owed, and left very disappointed. We’d never had such a bad experience in all our years of traveling for holidays, and I can only strongly advise against this campsite. We’ve camped as a family for over 10 years and visited dozens of sites across Europe, so I feel I have enough experience to make a fair assessment. This year, with children aged 16 and 14, we bought a used caravan and put it on a seasonal pitch to give them more independence. We always stayed nearby in our camper, either on another pitch or in the adjoining area. At first, this place seemed like a good choice, including because of the seasonal package price. But most people here are long-term residents, and over time they seem to form a closed group. We felt like outsiders and found the atmosphere unwelcoming. Friction with reception started early, with abrupt, impolite reprimands. We felt treated as unwanted guests, and our children were repeatedly told off in ways we thought were unfair. It gave us the clear impression that occasional visitors were treated as second-class customers. We were told that an adult had to sleep on the pitch with the children, a rule we hadn’t been told about when signing the contract. We also noticed that it didn’t seem to be enforced as strictly for other permanent guests. We were called to reception and met by the director, whose manner struck us as aggressive and unprofessional. The accusations about our children didn’t match their behavior. They’re both scout leaders, used to living respectfully and with discipline in a community. Perhaps they were only guilty of laughing a little louder than usual, yet security intervened disproportionately. Even some neighbors on nearby pitches were surprised by what happened.
