Condominio Simma 2

We booked Simma 6 through Booking.com, but they put us in Simma 1 and gave no explanation. At check-in they hurried us into signing a paper in a foreign language and took a €100 deposit. Avoid this place, it was completely unprofessional. There were no sheets or towels, and the kitchen didn’t even have basic things like a kettle, knives, or a cutting board. We got one roll of toilet paper for the whole stay, with no soap, dish sponge, or cleaning supplies. At checkout they said we were meant to clean the stove and defrost the fridge. With what, exactly? Nobody came to clean during our week, and it didn’t look as though anyone had cleaned before we arrived either. They even said my mother had broken the rules by leaving her hat on the bed. When we tried to talk it through, they insulted us personally and blamed “our culture” for not understanding their standards.

We had a good stay in the end. It’s a short walk to the beach, and there are markets nearby. The place was clean and quiet. Bed linen was supplied, but the blankets were thin and had no duvet covers, and there were no towels. Since this was a budget option, I’m not complaining. We paid a €150 deposit that was refundable when we left.

The positives were the price, roomy apartment, and very convenient location near the beach, supermarkets, and restaurants. Parking was never going to be a problem. The building felt a bit neglected. During my stay I never saw anyone cleaning, fixing anything, or even acting as security. Check-in at the office took ages, and the staff there seemed confused and weren’t very friendly. The apartments have equipment, but it’s all due for an update, and the mattresses have clearly seen better days. I think it was the fire alarm that kept going off every two hours for no reason. What a scare each time. It was a good experience overall, but I’m sure it could be a lot better.

The one good thing was that reception let us cancel without any trouble or charge, and we got a full refund. I’m still puzzled why they charged us €100. I should’ve insisted on the deposit just to sleep on those awful mattresses. The pictures on booking.com looked great, but what we found was a disaster. Every bed was broken, the mattresses were terribly dirty and covered in odd stains, and the walls were filthy. There were no sheets, blankets, or toilet paper at all. Either we were given the wrong apartment or we were ripped off. I’d have slept better outside by a bridge than in that place. I’ll never return, and I’d tell everyone not to book with this company. They should go bankrupt immediately and never rent apartments again.
