We were met after calling on arrival by a helpful young man, who checked us in and shared tourist information. The room had been newly decorated and was very nice, with an en suite bathroom. There was also a shared kitchen with a fridge and microwave, and daily maid service. It’s on the ground floor of a residential apartment block, near a bus stop, about 10 minutes by bus from town and the station. Breakfast came as a voucher for a nearby cafe, with coffee and a limited choice of cakes and pastries. The Dragon pub around the corner serves food late.

Even with the terrible weather that hit Bologna and Emilia Romagna in the last days of May 2023, the owner wouldn’t agree to any compromise. Bologna was shut down, with schools and museums closed, which seemed like a clear case of force majeure. I’m a lawyer and understand the booking terms, but a little flexibility would help avoid putting tourists off. The high fee demanded just to change the booking was outrageous. Please don’t book here.

We arrived to find hair on the floor and a bathroom that wasn’t properly clean. For what we paid, the room wasn’t worth it.

The room had plenty of space and all the essentials were provided. Great location, too.
