B&B Matteotti 23

We loved staying here during our Bologna trip. The apartment feels like someone's home, which gives it a local feel, and the owner was friendly and kind. There's a single room with its own bathroom and a balcony overlooking the enormous church next door. Plenty of cafes for breakfast are right across the street. It's a five minute walk from the railway station and about 20 minutes on foot to the city centre. We'd recommend it to people visiting Bologna.

The owners were attentive and friendly, and worked around our early and late arrival times. We stayed in a bright, airy room with comfortable beds, though the lack of AC made the very warm night uncomfortable. The doors and walls are so thin that other guests woke us a little. That was partly down to our going to bed before the B&Bs 11pm noise cut-off. B&B Matteotti is an affordable hotel alternative, about 5 minutes from the old town borders and Bologna Centrale train station, and roughly a 25 minute walk from the town centre.

The beautiful staircase and stunning building made a good impression, and the bed was genuinely okay. The host is a really nice guy, but the place itself is in bad shape. It was quite filthy, with old dirt seemingly tucked into every corner for years. That made for a poor stay overall.

The room was roomy and cozy, and the owner gave us a very warm welcome. It's close enough to the train station that getting there is easy.
