I spent two nights here. The first morning I woke to bugs crawling on me. Staff said this was common because the garden-facing window had been open. Then on the second night I saw them coming out from behind the red bed curtains. I showed them to staff and used Google images to explain they were bed bugs, not harmless bugs. I asked to move rooms and eventually did; the new room was completely bug-free. The staff were kind and helpful, but those two days left me feeling pretty down. The eight-bed room had ten beds, with two unused. It was basic and clean, with no air conditioning and an open window facing the garden. There were two showers, one outside the bathroom, plus bed curtains, a bedside light, and a charger. I’d wanted curtains, but didn’t appreciate them after that. I liked the shared dining space, kitchen for reheating my meals, luggage scale, public bathrooms, terrace, and garden. The hostel is a long way from the bus station, so leaving your bags somewhere else can save time, even if it costs a little. I paid 4 euro for a day at the bus station. The walk to the center or bus station takes a while, though I knew that going in and felt safe even late at night. Keep the limited arrival hours in mind if your bus might be late. Bologna isn’t cheap, and I’ve stayed in better hostels, but this one was alright overall.

The air conditioning in my room wasn’t working, so it got very hot, though the beds themselves were fine. The hostel was only okay. I was told I could use the gym. Around 11:30 pm one night, I was working out with about ten minutes left when a worker came in yelling and made me stop. I know it was late, but nobody else was around and I’d already been told it was allowed. The next morning staff confirmed that gym use was allowed, which made the whole thing more frustrating. The following day I went out drinking, my phone died, and I got lost on the way back because the hostel is far from town. I arrived about 35 minutes after checkout. The place was empty, but when I politely asked for a quick shower before leaving, a local staff member was extremely rude and said no. After I packed, I went downstairs to wait for my train and was told I couldn’t even sit there, supposedly for insurance reasons. Minutes later, two girls who’d arrived early for check-in were allowed to sit downstairs for two hours. The rules felt all over the place, and the staff were rude with no flexibility or hospitality. This place is a joke. I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

This hostel really stood out for me after staying in plenty of others. I loved it, and the staff were so kind. They also pointed me toward some nice places to eat.

The location suited me well, with shops, places to eat, and bus stops nearby, and the airport isn’t far. You can walk to the city center if you don’t mind a bit of distance. The area felt safe and clean, though a nearby venue can make weekend nights noisy. There are lots of shared spaces, including a quiet garden and several balconies. The kitchen is well equipped, everything was kept clean, and the beds were comfortable. WiFi was usually reliable. Some rooms have privacy curtains, though not every room does. Staff were pleasant and helpful with check-in, extending my stay, and storing my bags. It had everything I needed.

I’ve had enough bad hostel stays to be cautious, but this was one of the nicest I’ve been to. It’s clean, new, functional, and the rooms look just like the pictures. The area is quiet and feels safe at night, with the historic center of Bologna reachable by bus or on foot. I really recommend the walk. There’s a lovely terrace, a huge kitchen with all the equipment you need, good WiFi, and an inexpensive bar by the lobby. It isn’t a party hostel, which made it a good place to rest at night. Highly recommend!
