Bologna Charme&Design

Ana and Leo were wonderful hosts. They worked around our needs, including an early arrival and late departure, and gave us great information about Bologna. The breakfast was delicious, and we heard some great stories. Meeting their friend Gino was a special part of the stay. Such a great place!

The kitchen had a huge range of products, and the rooms were clean. We had a wonderful experience with a great host. I'd definitely choose it again, and highly recommend it!

The location is excellent, close to the historic center but on a quiet street, with some good restaurants nearby. B&B Bella Bologna is in a beautiful old building with thick walls and a big staircase. Our room was spacious and clean, with a lovely shower and bath products in the bathroom. We reused our towels for several days for environmental reasons, and could have asked for fresh ones at any time. The owner was friendly and chatty, and sent lots of information beforehand about what to see and where to get a good meal. She also told us Bologna's seven secrets, a fun way to learn more about the city. Breakfast was very good by Italian standards, with cheeses, jams, mortadella, boiled eggs, yogurt, biscuits and cakes. The toast bread wasn't my favorite, but it was fine. When the weather is warm enough, you can eat on the cozy patio. The room felt a bit cold and damp, perhaps because ventilation is difficult in an old building. The mattress was too hard and the pillow too flat, so we didn't sleep as well as we'd hoped. The narrow, winding stairs up to my boyfriend's parents' room also felt a bit dodgy.

The host was the highlight for us. She also works as a city guide and shared insider tips on what to see, and her cheerful, kind manner made the stay special. Breakfast was nice too, with cereals, bread and other basics plus homemade cake and biscuits. The room was nicely decorated and in very good condition, and the bathroom looked onto a small courtyard where we could get fresh air. There was air conditioning as well. The B&B is under 10 minutes on foot from the central square, so we barely needed buses during our three-day stay. With the very good price for what you get, I'd definitely recommend it.
