FlyOn Hotel & Conference Center

The curved building’s functional design gives the space a striking look. The road leading up to it made us feel as if we’d taken a wrong turn, but the parking, security, and ease of use made the stay worthwhile. Even with the balcony door open, we couldn’t hear planes taking off or landing, despite being right by a busy airport.

The bed felt a bit too soft for me, but parking was free and felt safe. The staff were friendly, check-in and checkout were efficient, and the airport location was great. The restaurant food was better than I expected, especially the yummy Ragu.

This place should have been demolished long ago. Even with the airport nearby, I can’t recommend it. For the same price, you can find much better hotels a little farther into the city. The hotel feels well past its prime. There was dirt everywhere, stained carpets, peeling wallpaper, and a bathroom with dirty grout and loose, uneven tiles. I travel a lot, and after stays in France and Malaysia, this 'shack' called FlyOn felt especially bad. The hotel in Malaysia was pure luxury by comparison. It probably looked outdated even in the communist era. I’m from Poland, so I know what I’m talking about. Service was a joke, especially at the restaurant. Breakfast was limited, with powdered scrambled eggs, in Italy of all places, and a strange rule against taking a banana. My friend was feeling very unwell and needed something with him, but the policy came first. The previous evening, even getting bread, yogurt, or water for him was a struggle. A rude older waiter said the only thing I could take away was pizza, although I could see bread on other tables. I had to get the manager involved just to buy something for my sick friend. The staff’s attitude fit that grim communist-era feeling perfectly.

This hotel seems to survive on its airport location alone. I can’t think of another reason to stay here. The shuttle only runs in the morning and at night, so at other times you need a taxi. There’s parking, but it’s very expensive and nobody tells you that. At check-in, the employee just said “documents,” like a policeman arresting a suspect. A “good evening” or “please” seemed like too much effort for a customer. I waited 15 minutes while he struggled with the system and kept asking a colleague for help. The colleague repeatedly went to the back to smoke. I haven’t seen people smoking inside a hotel in 20 years, much less an employee during work hours. The room was old and average. I got into the bathtub to shower and found 5 cm of water left in it, apparently not drained after the last cleaning. There was only one bottle of water in the room, and they didn’t refill it during my two-night stay.
