The nave was covered in scaffolding during my visit in January 2026, but the chapel was open. Michelangelo was only 19 when he worked here to complete sculptures others had begun. I also loved seeing the place still in use, with Dominican friars walking the aisle in prayer and keeping an eye on the church and the people there.
