The Social Hub Bologna

I’ve stayed here several times and will keep coming back. The staff are always friendly, the rooms are clean and modern, and the hotel has a fresh, pleasant feel. There are plenty of restaurants and bars within walking distance, and it’s close to the station. Compared with Bologna’s many old-fashioned hotels, this is one I’m happy to return to.

The staff are friendly, the bathrooms are spacious, and the gym is good for a hotel, though crowded in the evening. Rooms are mostly fine, if nothing special, but some have odd furniture layouts, like the wardrobe and shoe space being across the room from the door. The soundproofing also seems poor: corridor noise can wake you at night, and parties in other rooms sometimes keep you up. In winter, it’s handy to be able to set the heating as high as 24 degrees, though the machine is quite noisy when blowing warm air. On rainy days, the top floor roof seems to leak a little, with water occasionally dripping down. The bigger issue is the construction. The inner yard has been a full construction site for over a month, with drilling often waking people around 8am and continuing into the afternoon. Plastic covers the ground-floor windows by the co-working spaces. We weren’t told about the work when booking, and the website still doesn’t warn guests. Residents were notified only the day before the renovations, with no compensation offered. The place is nothing like the website pictures right now. They seem to have various projects going on, and without advance notice you can’t know what may be happening during your stay. Maybe it’s nice in summer when half of it isn’t a construction site, but I’d only consider staying again if the price were reasonable. It’s not worth paying a premium.

I was there only for a quick half-day visit and one night, but the atmosphere was very comfortable and the staff were super friendly. The location is excellent too, under a 10-minute walk from the train station. Highly recommended!

The hotel has a modern, cool feel, though it isn’t really a cosy kind of place. We had a great three-night stay: it was super clean and comfortable, with lovely staff and excellent facilities, especially the gym and co-working and lounge areas. The bar stays open until 11 PM, and breakfast had a huge choice of sweet and savoury treats. Definitely recommend it!
