I Carrilli

The owners were so kind and friendly, and always had suggestions for places to eat and things to see. When we left, Claudia gave me a little bag of fragrant lavender, such a sweet, thoughtful gesture. The place is lovely and surrounded by greenery, with a fantastic lake view from the bedroom window. The rooms were exceptionally clean, and breakfast was generous with something for everyone. Thanks again to Lorenzo and Claudia. If we’re back this way, we’ll definitely return, and I’ll always recommend them.

Lorenzo called about an hour before we arrived to see if we needed directions, and they’d asked in advance what we wanted for breakfast. We requested a customized breakfast, and they made sure we had everything we’d asked for. The owners, Lorenzo and Claudia, are truly special. Claudia is such a wonderful and interesting person, I could have talked with her for hours. We spent one night at I Carrilli over Easter. It’s a beautiful, new and intimate property, with a stunning view of Lake Bolsena. I’ll do my best to include a stay with them on future trips.

The garden is spacious and lovely, with a superb view of the lake. There’s a pedestrian path into the village, about a five-minute walk downhill and a little longer coming back up, depending on your fitness. Bolsena itself is charming and very old, with a castle, medieval and older sections, newer homes on the outskirts, and various shops. It’s all worth a look. The hosts are excellent, kind and friendly, and made us feel right at home. Our room was clean, tidy, nicely furnished and excellent. The bathroom was large and well equipped, though shared. Depending on the other guests, there may only be one room. I’ll definitely be back.

We’ve just finished our stay at the Carrilli, and it gets top marks from us. The room had a spectacular lake view, and Mr. Lorenzo was so friendly, as was his dog, Ciro. I’d recommend it to anyone wanting to enjoy the nature and centuries-old history of Tuscia.
