We found the staff rather distant with us as new guests, and the old bathroom had a stale smell and some damaged furniture, though it was clean. The restaurant was okay, but expensive. This is an old hotel and quite costly, and half the rooms face a very noisy street, so the windows have to be shut at night. In summer the rooms get very hot, with only fans for cooling.

The city centre is a bit of a walk, though it took just five minutes by car and parking cost €3. We spent three nights at Rentschnerhof and were very happy with it. The staff were friendly, the rooms were nice, breakfast tasted good, and the pool was great for cooling off. There was no air conditioning, but even at 33 degrees that wasn’t a problem.

Breakfast was great, and the room had lovely views across the valley. There’s a nice outdoor pool and free parking right outside the hotel. The one drawback for us was that there’s no air conditioning.
