Hotel Pensione Moderna

We had a huge, comfortable apartment with two levels and a kitchen. It’s very close to everything, about 20 metres from the train station and 100 metres from the beach, bank, and village centre. There’s free parking and Wi-Fi. The staff were warm and helpful, though their English wasn’t enough for easy conversation, so we mostly communicated with gestures. Breakfast was included and dinner cost extra, but both were simple and really good. The shower setup is odd and lets water leak across the whole bathroom. There’s no elevator, which could be a real problem if you have large suitcases.

The restaurant looks out onto a pleasant garden, and the staff and owners were nice. Bike rentals are usually available at a reasonable price, and the dinners are good for the money, so I’d recommend half board. The hotel is very close to the Cinque Terre train tracks, with the station just down the street. The pros and cons of that location are pretty obvious.

The people were nice, and the Italian style breakfast was pretty good. The rooms are small, the showers warm, and the beds a little uncomfortable.

This could be a great place in midsummer, but being beside the train tracks and having no air conditioning are drawbacks.
