The rooms are nice, and the services are varied.

I was only there for one day and night, but I ate very well and didn’t mind the train service. If I’d needed to take the train, it would have saved me the taxi fare to the station. I didn’t get to use the beach because I was just passing through, though I would have liked to: it was within an easy walk and had all the necessary facilities. Thank you to the owner for the hospitality. I’d choose your hotel again if I came back on holiday. One suggestion, the room wardrobe should be replaced with a laminate one. Best wishes.

The sea at Borgo was gorgeous, clear as a swimming pool, and Bagni Varavi gave us two lovely days at the beach. The hotel, though, was a terrible experience. We stayed just one night, thankfully. Our room was dirty, with hair in the shower and very old furniture. The owner offered us a room with a terrace but didn’t say it was shared with other rooms. When we came back from the beach, we wanted to air out the room and shower without strangers watching, but people were sitting outside smoking and drinking beer. The restaurant staff, who are Albanian, treated us like friends in a rushed, annoying way. From the open kitchen we could see the chefs cooking and eating. Train announcements kept us company all night, too. Outside, the area was run down, with buckets of water and dirty rags left lying around. The exterior wall was visibly soiled with dog urine and hadn’t been cleaned, and the smell was noticeable as soon as we got close.

We came back to this hotel again this year, where Claudia and Pino run things with such kindness. The cleanliness is excellent. Anna and Omar bring imagination and skill to the cooking, while Sara served us with such sweetness and Tani was composed. They sometimes have live music, too. We’ll definitely return.
