I’ve worked in hospitality all my life, and making two coffees would have taken seconds. When we got back from dinner, we asked the bar for a pair of espressos to have on the front terrace. It was only 9.30pm, but the barman said he’d just cleaned the machine and refused. It felt like they couldn’t be bothered. Our shower also didn’t work properly, with broken dials and no temperature control, and breakfast was very poor.

We had our hiking group Christmas lunch here and enjoyed it. Good service and a great location. We’re planning to have our party there again this Christmas. Recommended!

We wouldn’t consider staying anywhere else when we return to Borgo Val Di Taro. The hotel staff were so good, and our room was spotless, bright, and airy, with an amazing balcony. The bathroom was modern and had a massage shower that was fabulous once we figured out how to use it. After a 15-hour journey, we were picked up from the railway station and taken to the Albergo Roma hotel. My husband and I would give it four stars. Our only small complaint was that there wasn’t a kettle in the room.

The room was spacious, clean, and in a beautiful location, and aside from the shower booth, everything was great. The hotel itself is old, so you can imagine the condition of its facilities. I’ve rarely stayed somewhere so clean. Breakfast wasn’t good, though, there was only bread.

This was my fourth stay here, touring the beautiful countryside by motorbike, and it’s been a pleasure every time. The rooms are lovely, the homemade Italian food is great, and the atmosphere is friendly and almost like family. I feel very well looked after. Thanks, Giovanni and team, I’ll be back anytime!
