The owner was nice, but that didn’t make up for the poor service. We paid €214 for two nights, with spiders and insects for company. The rooms and dated furniture felt worn, the beds were tired, and cleanliness was poor. There’s no air conditioning. Breakfast comes through an outside service that sometimes doesn’t show up; it’s expensive and offers little variety, just sweet or savory. The pool looked dirty, with green algae on the walls, and I couldn’t bring myself to get in.

The grounds are beautiful and very well cared for, and the place looks fantastic from outside. Our apartment felt a bit dated, though. A little more attention and care could make it perfect. There’s no air conditioning.

The pool and location give the place potential, but our stay was disappointing. The apartments weren’t properly clean, which made things less comfortable, and the staff came across as unwelcoming and unhelpful. I wouldn’t recommend it to someone hoping for a pleasant, relaxing stay.

It’s easy to find a shuttle to and from Cartore, which makes Il Capomandro a natural stop. If you take the walk, it’s worth heading down to the Sanctuary beside the property. The mini apartment has a full kitchen, and the swimming pool is fantastic. Michele, the owner, is delightful and always willing to help.
