I had a very negative experience with the restaurant owners. They seemed unfriendly and rude, and I witnessed behavior that I believe was discriminatory. Based on this, I wouldn’t recommend the place. Please take that into account before visiting.

The location made the stay for me: right at the top of Stelvio Pass, with easy access in both directions and to Umbrail Pass toward Switzerland. The staff seemed to be a family operation, and they were warm, welcoming, and helpful. Even when I checked in later than expected, I could still get pizza and a glass of wine at the bar, and enjoyed them at a nice table by the fireplace. My room was a bit dated, with a small CRT television, but it was more than adequate. The bed was super soft, I had no intention of watching TV anyway, and it was nice to have a private bathroom with a shower. The staff were patient with my less-than-perfect Italian and helped when I struggled to find the right words. I hadn’t planned on doing much besides sleeping here, and the price turned out to be perfect for my needs. I don’t usually leave hotel reviews, but this was a great stay. Thanks, Hotel Genziana. I’ll definitely return with friends.

The room was clean and everything worked, though the equipment was older. Staff were helpful and the food was very good. The hotel is well placed in Passo Stelvio, with the trek to Rifugio Garibaldi starting right next to it.

The rooms are worn but clean, and both the cafe and restaurant serve high-quality food. The hostess was fantastic and sweet. Considering the place, it’s all at a cheap price.
