Agriturismo Cascina Monchiero

We’d happily return to Agriturismo Monchiero. The family made our stay feel so welcoming, and the accommodation was spotless. Their garden has fruit and hazelnut trees, with a pleasant hike starting nearby, and there’s a pool for cooling off. We got lots of good suggestions for places to eat and things to do. We also visited Monchiero winery, run by uncle Vittorio and his wife Daniela. They took plenty of time with us during the wine tasting and let us sample a lot. We left with wine, homemade jam, honey, and hazelnut spread. Breakfast was another highlight: the mother cooked it in the kitchen using produce from their garden, while the father greeted guests and the son and daughter helped make sure we were comfortable.

Dinner was great, and Luciana is both very kind and an excellent cook. Breakfast was lovely too, with homemade cakes and jams, local honey, and cheese. The rooms were very comfortable and clean, and the setting was quiet and ideal for a rest. My six-year-old son had a great time playing with and feeding some of the animals. Eugenio, Luciana, and their son Giorgio were all really nice. We also visited several lovely villages near Bra and drank some very good wine. I recommend it.

The pool was a real treat in the very hot weather, and breakfast on the big terrace overlooking the valley was delicious. Coffee came out within minutes and was good quality. We could also cater for ourselves, so some evenings we had our own drinks and cheese board there. When we ran out of wine, they sold us another lovely bottle of local Barolo at a very reasonable price. We stayed for a week for a small family reunion and explored the Piemonte region from here. The accommodation is charming and comfortable, and the farm and main residence are beautifully kept. Eugenio, his wife, and their daughter Francesca, the main front-of-house contact, were wonderfully helpful and accommodating. They could arrange nearly anything we wanted, from e-bike tours and tastings with local producers to restaurant recommendations and bookings. Nothing felt like too much trouble. One of our best holidays, highly recommended.

We spent four nights at Francesca’s house. It’s beautifully decorated, and the area around it is so peaceful and natural. Breakfast was really nice, with organic local products, and the cleaning was spotless.
