Speckstube Eggerhof

The farm setting was cozy and charming, and we had a lovely four-night stay. Our room was clean and comfortable for three adults, and the service and staff were wonderful. Breakfast was included and great; lunch and dinner were hearty, though they cost extra. Lago di Brias was about five minutes away, and the hotel gives you a discounted parking pass for the lake. We also went to nearby San Candido, around 20 minutes away, for restaurants, shops, and a ride on the Alpine sled at Fun Bob. Tre Chime was about 45 minutes away, and we hiked there too.

The room I was given was extremely small. It had no room number, only a “private” sign, so I got the impression it might usually be for staff. More upsetting was how the staff handled a situation with my friend, who is on the spectrum and was visiting for a couple of days. She wasn’t staying at the property, but I invited her to dinner. When she later felt unwell, she needed to lie down in my room briefly. Staff reprimanded me afterward and said guests weren’t allowed in the room. I checked carefully, and couldn’t find that rule written or communicated anywhere.

We stopped at this restaurant on the way to Lago di Braies, hoping to eat lunch and then spend a couple of hours sightseeing by bus. There’s a bus stop right beside it, so we thought we could leave our van in the lot, take the bus to Braies and back, and then continue on. Before ordering, we asked specifically if we could leave the van there after eating. The waiter checked with the owner, and they said it was fine as long as we dined there. We ordered food and drinks and had lunch, but when we checked again before leaving, the answer had changed: we could only park there while eating. Nobody had mentioned that condition earlier. Coming from the owners themselves, it felt misleading and was really disappointing. The burgers weren’t great either. The meat was okay, but the bread and potatoes were soggy, with little flavor or texture. Frustrating experience that could’ve been avoided with clear, honest communication. I wouldn’t recommend it for friendly service or good food.

The visit was good, but parking at the lake cost 18 euro. The restaurant voucher cost another 12 euros, and there wasn’t an option to buy it without a voucher. The restaurant only serves food from 12 to 15:00, but we still stopped for a Coffe to get that voucher.
