Hotel Cristallo

Breakfast had plenty of tasty choices, and the staff were friendly and helpful the whole time. The hotel was very clean too, so I had a great stay.

A good pick for a short visit, with a very reasonable price. The breakfast buffet is basic but satisfying, and the rooms have air conditioning and hot water. It's in a safe area, only a three-minute walk from the train station and about ten minutes on foot from the center.

The room was tiny, but spotless, and I slept well. Even being so close to the train station, it was quiet enough at night. My €55 single room had the necessary facilities, a TV, and air conditioning. The owners and all the receptionists I met were so welcoming that I accepted their offer. The hotel is on the first floor of a huge block that looks gloomy at first, and there's no elevator up to reception. Breakfast was included: cereals, bread, croissants, cake, and yogurt. Nothing special, but enough to keep me going for half a day. Hotel Cristallo sits on Viale della Stazione in Brescia's busiest area, just two minutes from the bus and train stations, so it's handy if you're taking public transport to nearby towns and villages. There are plenty of inexpensive takeaways, restaurants, and bars on the street, many with outdoor seating.

The bathroom was so cramped that I could barely turn in the shower without hitting the wall or taps. Breakfast was basic, and food nearby is quite expensive. The hotel doesn't feel like a three-star place at all, and I think it's closer to one star. I wouldn't go back, even if someone paid me. The receptionists were rude, and the service was poor. The person who checked us in gave us no useful information about our stay. They also didn't mention the city tax of 1.50 Euros per guest per night until checkout, when they should have told us at check-in. There's no microwave for guests, and the rooms don't have an iron or ironing board. I asked for an iron for about three days before they finally gave me one. The staff didn't seem willing to understand what guests needed, and none of them spoke English, which made communication difficult. Three-star hotels are much better than this. If you can spend a little more, choose Marriott, which isn't far away. The difference is great.
