We came at the end of May and had sunny, beautiful days, with chilly, cozy evenings. The hotel’s peaceful atmosphere was so lovely that we really didn’t want to leave. There’s plenty to do, including hiking, biking, outdoor Pilates, and more, and both restaurants serve delicious food with dishes that change by season. We especially loved the non-alcoholic Tiramisu at The Garden. The views of the Dolomites are beautiful from every angle, and the whole place felt like a dream. From arrival onward, the staff were warm, sweet, attentive, and exceptional. Our stay at Forestis was unforgettable, and we’d love to return.

The staff even brought me the glasses I’d left at a restaurant in a nearby town. That kind of care really stood out, and it’s rare. Service throughout was outstanding. The food was delicious and varied, the ingredients fresh, and breakfast excellent. The spa had a great range of saunas and a very nice pool. I also had one of the best massages I’ve ever had. If I’d known, I’d have booked one every day instead of waiting until the end of our stay. The internet was incredibly fast and reliable, easily among the best Wi-Fi I’ve had in Europe, especially for a mountain location. I care a lot about pillows, and both the pillow selection and the mattress were perfect. I slept like a baby. My wife and I have never stayed at a better hotel. There’s honestly nothing to complain about. We’ll definitely come back, perhaps in summer, and again next winter without a doubt. Absolutely worth the money. Highly recommended.

The setting is 5906 feet up in the Dolomites, and from suite 115 I had a stunning springtime view of the Odle Massif’s fangs, still ringed with snow. The architecture is mountain minimalist, by Brixen-based Armin Sader. The place has a long history: construction began in 1912 as a sanitorium for the Austro-Hungarians, but WW1 and South Tyrol’s annexation by Italy cut the project short. Priests used it afterward, then it was forgotten from the 50s. The current owners, the Hinteregger family, rediscovered it in 2000. It’s a gorgeous drive up, and once there the focus is wellness, with healthy meals, hikes, yoga, Pilates, saunas, swimming, spa, and ski in ski out in winter. Yera’s forest cuisine is a three-hour digital detox, with no phones allowed. The cave-like room and fire pit reminded me of Mexico’s temazcals. Chef Roland Lamprecht and team made beautiful, creative dishes from forest herbs and other mountain ingredients, often foraged. Prices were €1063 for bed and breakfast, plus €650 for dinner at Yera with fermented drink pairings. Service was good overall, apart from a scowling spa receptionist who scolded me for taking a serum bottle from the boutique to show what I wanted to buy. At check-in I was told a nice breakfast table had been reserved for me, but it hadn’t been, and all the best tables were taken. 5/5 mountain high magic.

The spa was gorgeous, a lovely place to unwind with mountain views after a big day skiing. We stayed in a tower suite, and the spectacular view made every morning special when we opened the curtains. The food was excellent, especially the dinner tasting menus. Everyone on staff was extremely friendly and professional, with a special mention for Giulio, who made our stay so pleasant. The most luxurious ski and mountain stay we’ve ever had. We’ll return 😉⛷️💛

Skiing was easy and convenient to access, and the facilities are beautiful. The food was amazing, too. Nearly everyone across the hotel, restaurant, bar, and spa was friendly and enthusiastic, with a consistently high level of personal attention. One exception was the dark-haired woman with wire-framed glasses at the spa desk. She generally didn’t seem to want to talk, and seemed specifically frustrated when I asked about the spa menu options. Any of her colleagues made for a more pleasant and informative conversation.
