Hotel Jarolim

We had four hours to wait for our train, so we paid the hotel €3 per bag to store our luggage. Iana at reception was really friendly and helpful. We also had coffee there, and the hotel had a nice atmosphere.

The staff were welcoming and accommodating, and the stay included a very handy Brixen card. The hotel has a lovely garden and is about a 10-minute walk from the historic centre. It also works well if you arrive by train and don’t want to haul your luggage far. If you’re a light sleeper, ask for a room away from the tracks.

The rooms were spacious and clean, and the hotel is right across from the train and bus stations, with the historic centre a 10-minute walk away. Staff were lovely and helped us choose hikes and local activities. Breakfast was a real highlight, with high-quality local cheese, jam, juice, pastries and yoghurt. We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Jarolim.

The receptionists were helpful, and breakfast was acceptable, with plenty to choose from, though I’ve had better nearby and didn’t think the ingredients were the best. The plain yoghurt was sweetened but not labelled that way, which could be an issue for some people. Eggs were only available hard-boiled. Jarolim is opposite the station, a surprisingly convenient spot for Brixen. The centre is walkable, and there are a few supermarkets close by. I requested a garden-facing room because I’d read that trains can be heard through the double glazing. My single room was fine, with an okay mattress and two very soft pillows that I used together. It had almost everything, but a mini-fridge feels essential these days. The bathroom was okay too, though the sink was tiny. I’m petite and managed, but I can’t imagine a tall man brushing his teeth there. The towels were so thin I could see my hand through them. They didn’t dry me properly, and management should replace them soon. At about €120 a night for a single room with an okay breakfast, I didn’t think the price was fair, though it seems typical for the area. I was there for work, so it worked for me, but I’m not sure I’d choose it for a holiday. I might stay at Jarolim again for the location, unless I found somewhere cheaper.
