Hermitage Hotel

The people at the Hermitage are the reason our family keeps coming back. Simone, Luca, Michaela, Thomas, and the rest of the team welcome us so warmly and seem to know what we need before we ask. Even with a large family, we feel relaxed and looked after, and that personal care has stayed consistent through more than 25 years of visits. Some of our most precious memories are tied to this hotel. The rooms, spa, service, and food all add to the experience, but the Hermitage has become part of our family’s story and a tradition we can’t imagine missing. Thank you to everyone there for making our winter holidays feel so special.

The food was a real highlight. Breakfast was lavish, and dinner brought new chef’s suggestions based on local dishes each day, alongside grilled meat and fish, plenty of other choices, desserts, wine, and cheese. They were also happy to prepare whatever we wanted for breakfast. We travel a lot, and this was the best cuisine we’d come across. There’s a driver who can take you to or collect you from the ski lift, and the slopes are only a minute away. The spa isn’t huge, but the clean, large pool, Turkish bath, and sauna were enough for us. Our classic room wasn’t especially big or refurbished, but it was cosy, clean, and had a Matterhorn view. The hotel has a grand, old-fashioned elegance, and the lobby feels welcoming. We loved resting by the fireplace and nearby bar after skiing. The staff were kind, professional, and eager to help. There’s something magical about the place from the moment you walk in. It’s really worth a visit.

We only had one night here during our road trip and immediately wished we’d stayed longer. The views and setting were lovely, and the town itself was well worth visiting. Staff were friendly, helpful, and gave us good ideas for our short stay. Breakfast and service were great too. This ended up being one of our favourite stops. Looking back, we wish we’d stayed here longer and skipped Chamonix.

We chose the restaurant for a treat on the last evening of our holiday, but left disappointed. The starters were fine, though the duck was overcooked and tough, and the fish had no flavour. When we raised it, the waiter apologised and said he’d speak to the chef, but we felt we were treated differently because we weren’t hotel guests. It put a dampener on our final night, and everyone left sad. We’d had much better meals in the village for a quarter of the price. I wouldn’t recommend it.
