The rooms are clean and have lots of real wood, with an old-fashioned feel. The lobby and restaurant are very nice, and breakfast was good by Italian standards. You can get from the ski slope to the entrance in about 15 metres, crossing the river and going 5 metres to the left. There are entrances on both streets. Everyone was very friendly.

Being close to the lifts was a real plus, and the warm bar next door gave us somewhere to sit away from our room. The room itself was cold, though, and the radiator made a loud gurgling noise without warming it up. I slept in a T-shirt and tracksuit bottoms to stay warm. There was a bath with a shower attachment, but cupboards overhead meant I couldn’t stand up. The walls were so thin we could hear everything the couple next door said and did, which wasn’t great with our kids in the room. Breakfast was basic, with the cheapest cereal I’ve ever had. The hotel feels tired, with worn carpets on the dark stairs that seem like an accident waiting to happen. The bar area wasn’t inviting.

Vienna runs the place with a constant smile and is great with customers, with a good team helping her. It’s a simple hotel with plenty of history: the owner’s father was the first Italian to climb Everest. A good base in Cervina, where you can ski almost to the boot room door. Breakfast is simple, and the restaurant is excellent if you decide to eat there in the evening.

A lovely spot for a nightcap, with Nepalese Buddhist paintings and crystal collections. Their bar snacks are the best in town. Keep this drinking den in the centre of Cervina quiet!

Great breakfast, tidy and comfortable rooms, and a really friendly, helpful team. It’s right in the centre and only a few steps from the ski lifts. Excellent!
