Hotel Breuil

The location is central, and the food was a decent standard, certainly not the cold stuff mentioned in a review we read before arriving. The nearby supermarket has a good range of other products, though it ran out of bottled water one day. Tap water wasn't drinkable while repairs were underway. The hotel was still waiting for outside testing to confirm it was safe, which wasn't something the hotel or ski company reps controlled. A downside the hotel could have managed was running out of natural yoghurt on our third day.

The lounge is spacious, though its decor feels straight out of the 70s, and sometimes getting a drink takes a while because staff are juggling several jobs. It wasn't a major issue for me. I also liked that this isn't an après-ski party hotel. For what it is, I'd rate it well: a conveniently placed hotel of around three-star standard in Cervinia. The rooms are fine, the food is OK, and the staff are friendly.

The nearby après bars play what they call music, but to me it sounds like a washing machine having a breakdown. It's intrusive and seriously awful. At least it stops fairly early, but it was bad enough that I wouldn't stay here again. The food was better than earlier reviews suggested: it was warm and there was plenty of it, with helpful staff.

The location is good, and downstairs there's a large, pleasant bar. The coffee was good, and the ski boot room is a decent size. But the spa costs 10 Euros each time, and the rooms are plain, very basic and dated. There are no baths. My friends paid for a balcony and didn't get one. Meals were poor at both breakfast and dinner. The veal dish in the photo was so thin it looked like it could slice someone in half, and the cauliflower flan was awful. Some staff were rude too, especially one blonde waitress at dinner. I asked for a scoop of ice cream with my dry cake dessert and got a very rude “NO.” For the prices here, that was absolutely unacceptable. Sorry, this wasn't a good experience. Avoid.
