The rooms are a good size and have plenty of storage, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was a pretty good buffet. There’s a heated room for boots and skis below the dining area, and it’s a short walk to both the slopes and main street. The shower was too small for me, though, and our room had no hooks for damp ski coats or pants.

The location made it easy to walk everywhere, and the lifts are very close. The rooms are basic, with very firm beds, terry cloth slippers with rubber soles, hot water, and great water pressure. You can keep wine and drinks cold on the outside window ledge. Coffee was good, and the breakfast was standard. The boot room is a good size, with heated racks and plenty of space for skis. The cleaning staff were very nice, as were two people at reception, a curly-haired man with glasses and a friendly brunette woman. Since there’s no restaurant, they let us bring food in for dinner in the lounge as long as we ordered beer or wine from the hotel. It was a nice option, and the lounge was a great place to play cards and games with family and friends. There’s also a great spa right next door. The downsides: the showers are tiny and toiletries are limited to shampoo and a small square soap. There’s a sewage smell in the hallway, as other reviews mention, masked by cinnamon air fresheners. Sometimes it gets into the rooms too, so bring your own room spray. It’s a very old building, and I understand it may need work. There’s no soundproofing, so you can hear people walking around. Bring earplugs. Breakfast doesn’t vary, so it got boring after a few days. The only eggs were hard-boiled, and the kiwis were hard as rocks. People picked and cut them every day, then left them uneaten. The front desk manager/owner was rude and seemed annoyed by guests, so avoid him if you want nice service. The hotel also won’t let you use its glasses if you buy wine from the store. Knowing what to expect, you get what you pay for. If you just want a good location and the basics without frills, it’s a good choice.

Breakfast was quite nice. There weren’t many choices, but everything was fresh, and the dining staff were pleasant and quick to clear the tables. The cleaning staff also did a good job keeping the rooms and bathrooms fresh and clean. There’s an elevator, which made it easy to get luggage to the right floor. Still, there are several issues to think about before booking. The hotel has recently been refurbished, but a faint smell of human waste comes and goes, and is covered with the strongest cinnamon-scented cleaning solution imaginable. Sound carries throughout the building, so you can hear everything around you. On several nights, we were woken by someone locked out of their room by a cohabitant. That can happen when each room is given only one key. The administrative staff mostly seemed irritated or disapproving, and we were often ignored. The older male owner?/receptionist was exceptionally rude after charging us twice for grappa we’d bought, then claiming we hadn’t paid. He gave us the money back in cash, but acted as if the whole thing was the most annoying experience of his life.

It’s a cheap hotel in a great spot for skiing, just a minute’s walk from the nearest lift. The air conditioning in the rooms was really bad and looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in years. The bathroom and shower were poorly designed, so showering meant getting water all over the floor. At times, you could feel water moving underneath the floor as you walked. Breakfast was okay, though the eggs were always boiling hot. Maybe they don’t cool them in Italy, I don’t know. The service was friendly whenever you managed to find someone. I wouldn’t visit again, but on a budget I’m not sure there are many better alternatives.
