I was only there for dinner, not as a hotel guest, so this is about the restaurant. The setting right on the water is stunning, especially at sunset. When I arrived it was almost empty. I ordered a pizza with honey, nuts, peanuts, and mozzarella. The flavors worked well together, but it was a little too sweet for me. The staff seemed nice at first. Then a family of four and a couple arrived, and their attention shifted entirely to them. The dough was quite dry, so I ordered another drink, but it never came. The family ordered drinks after me and got theirs in three minutes. I’d nearly finished the pizza by the time I gave up waiting. Asking for the check meant another 20-minute wait. There were only seven diners and three waiters, and the place was half empty. Service was slow and felt indifferent, as if they were focusing on customers they thought would spend more. I couldn’t wait to leave.

We had such a nice time here. The best restaurant we visited during our four days in Venice, and the waiter, Jacopo, was extremely nice. That kind of service feels rare in Venice. People like him deserve praise because they’re the face of the restaurant.

Hotel La Calcina was absolutely fantastic. The rooms are beautiful, the location is gorgeous, and the staff were incredibly friendly, professional, and helpful. Breakfast was included and very good. Samuel at the front desk is a rock star. I can’t wait to come back! 🤠

The staff were amazing, especially the older woman with curly hair, who was so helpful. We loved the hotel, its stunning views, and how everything was just a short walk away. Our room was amazing too, and we enjoyed breakfast each day. We were on the third floor, so the lack of an elevator was tough after a full day out. The shower was the main disappointment. It took ages to work out how to use it, and sometimes the water was just a trickle, with the pressure going up and down. We’d still stay again, but would love to see the shower situation fixed.

A great gelateria is just around the corner, and breakfast here was well worth it, especially after some cheaper stays elsewhere in the country. I had a lovely visit in a clean, charming single room with a private bathroom across the hall. The hotel is in a great spot, only a few minutes’ walk from the Guggenheim and the Accademia stop. I really enjoyed my stay and would highly recommend it.
