IL TRULLO Modern Rooms

I’d happily stay at IL TRULLO Modern Rooms again. The room itself is an old one, nicely renovated, clean, with working Wi-Fi and air conditioning. They leave packaged pastries, juice, and water in the room, which makes a handy continental breakfast. Bring a proper mug, though, because the two paper cups are too flimsy for more than a few minutes with a hot or cold drink. It’s a small place with just three rooms and self check-in. There’s a desk but no staff there, so you take your key from the rack and head upstairs. To get in, ring the intercom and explain you have a reservation. I had to repeat that I’d booked through Booking.com a few times in Italian before they buzzed me in and told me the room number. The instructions beforehand are sparse. It’s very close to the train station and only two blocks from the main street, a good spot for an overnight in Brindisi. There’s no one on site to photocopy your ID, so you’ll need WhatsApp to send a photo, or bring a copy and leave it on the desk with the cash for the city tax, currently 2.50 euro per person per day.

I was really pleased with the stay and would pick Trullo again if I come back to Brindisi. The host was kind, helpful, and always available for questions. The room was comfortable, with a TV, mini-fridge, and air conditioning, and everything felt spotless. The sheets smelled fresh, and the bathroom and shower were very clean. The property is about five minutes from the station, right near downtown. Thanks again, and Ad maiora.

The room was reasonably clean, but mine was very small and had poor ventilation. Breakfast was a letdown: there were packaged snacks and jam when we arrived, but we had to go to a bar ourselves, and I expected more. The location is excellent, just a few steps from the train station. Brindisi itself was lovely to explore, with wonderful beaches, excellent food, and a port area whose restaurants were a real discovery.

It was handy that they let us leave our luggage after checkout, which is a real plus. The room was cute and the location, close to the station, was great. But the packaged breakfast was disappointing, and something from the fridge or fan, I’m not sure which, was really annoying through the night. The pillow was very uncomfortable too.
