Relais Varnello

A nice, quiet area.

I can be picky in reviews, maybe even a bit heavy-handed. It’s a passion of mine, and I also hope my comments give managers something to think about and show where they might need to act. The setting at Relais Varnello is charming and spacious, surrounded by idyllic nature and an enchanting view. The outside is carefully maintained, and the olive trees add to the appeal. There’s a decent pool area with loungers and umbrellas, plus a small guest bathroom. Parking is ample and private. We stayed in room 3, which was spacious, simple, and well kept, with a reasonably comfortable bed and a fully equipped bathroom. There was free private WiFi in the room and another free WiFi area outside. Breakfast offered plenty of sweet and savory choices, and the owner kindly made coffee or a latte on request. A few issues kept it from earning five stars. There were lots of hairs in the room, on the armchairs and sofa and even on the sheets, so cleanliness wasn’t up to scratch. The receptionist came across as confused and unprofessional. When we made requests, she started by saying, “I have to leave in 45 minutes,” which made her seem in a hurry. We also asked for extra shower gel sachets, but she essentially gave us Marseille soap for our hands instead. She did provide the pool towels we’d requested at the same time. I’d suggest paying a little more attention to reception and room cleaning.

The manager was friendly and very helpful, and the facilities were clean and well looked after, especially the pool. The accommodation sits in a lovely setting close to the charming village of Brisighella. Definitely worth a visit.

You sleep peacefully here, with plenty of quiet, and wake up to an excellent breakfast. Vincenzo, the owner, clearly puts care and hard work into this beautiful place. It’s very close to Brisighella, practically among the rolling hills and chalky slopes. Everything was excellent.
