We left and paid €80 per night for a 4-star hotel 10 km away. This was a terrible experience: a room that looked like it was from the 1960s, with an unlivable double bed and a poor spring mattress. The fridge was tiny and ancient, the tablet doubled as the TV, and the air conditioner didn’t work. They charged an extra €25 a day for the second person, and the entrance was shared with another room. Not recommended.

The owners were courteous and helpful, and the area was quiet with the ring road very close. What really made a difference was how clean the room was, especially the bathroom, compared with other hotels, even starred ones. Excellent value too. Whenever I get the chance to visit Milan, I’ll definitely book here again!

I booked the room on February 20, two days before I was due to attend a court hearing in Monza, and paid in advance for two nights. The next day I was told the hearing had been canceled because COVID-19 cases were rising quickly. I called the hotel straight away to cancel, but they refused to refund the €80, saying I had canceled too late, they couldn’t find someone to take my reservation, and they would lose money. They also told me the court in Monza was still open and that the virus story was a lie. I asked for an invoice so I could account for the payment made on my company credit card. What they sent was a handwritten receipt photographed poorly, showing less than I had paid, so I couldn’t use it as proof because the amount had to match. I wasn’t impoverished by the 80 euros they stole, but I believe their greed was punished, at least in 2020.

The owners were friendly and helpful, and the place was clean and quiet. Parking wasn’t especially convenient, though we managed fairly well. There’s free Wi-Fi, a TV and an en-suite bathroom. Bars, restaurants, a shopping center and a tobacconist are close by. It’s convenient for getting to Milan by metro. The terminus at Cologno Nord is a five-minute drive away, and Piazza Duomo is 15 minutes away by metro on line M2. Parking in front of the station is free on Sundays. Tickets cost €2, and children under 14 travel free.
