The setting was peaceful and lovely, though a little far from the city, and the owner was kind and helpful. But the welcome basics were missing: we would have appreciated some hand soap in the bathroom for when we arrived, before unpacking, and a bottle of water. The cleaning was very superficial, and we were very disappointed. It seemed likely the place hadn't been sanitized. We had to ask the owner to change the sheets after finding several hairs of different colors. There was an old candy wrapper under the couch, cookie pieces under the living room table, and mosquitoes smashed on the fridge wall. When we moved the bed against the wall to keep our baby from rolling down, we found a substantial mass of thick cobwebs that looked decades old. The areas under the beds and behind the headboards hadn't been cleaned. The rooms are half underground and quite humid. A mosquito net in the kitchen would have helped us leave the window open without so many flies coming in, and even cats waiting for food.
