Poggio Cennina Resort Toscano

The grounds are lovely, with vineyards, sports facilities and a big pool, and it’s a great base for exploring Tuscany. We spent five nights here with the family and had plenty of room. The house was nicely decorated and well equipped, with a private outdoor area. Everyone on staff was kind and attentive, and Nelly even came out to wave goodbye when we left. There are also some great restaurants within a 15-25 minute drive.

The team really looked after us. I missed breakfast and was hungry, so they brought me to the kitchen and put together a huge charcuterie plate, coffee and baked goods. The pool was lovely for relaxing in the sun, and the grounds are beautiful. Our room was clean, comfortable and private. The whole resort exceeded my expectations, and I can’t wait to return to Poggio.

The Tuscan setting is gorgeous. We enjoyed the pool, the vineyards and the stars at night, but the way we were treated made it hard to feel welcome. Staff could be condescending and unfriendly. We were scolded over feeding our kids at the outdoor terrace tables, not locking the bikes correctly and not reusing pool towels on the first day. We came to take a vacation, not be lectured about rules, and requests weren’t handled respectfully. Our rooms were very basic, and problems varied across our group: more than half had broken AC that couldn’t be fixed, no wifi, no hot bathroom water, or ants in the kitchen. AC cost an extra 20€ per night. We asked for a hairdryer and soap for our weeklong stay, but neither was provided, and changing towels cost 6€. We also arranged two meals from the resort kitchen, and both disappointed us. That was especially unfortunate after we’d had great meals almost everywhere else during our previous two weeks in Italy.

The pool sits in a beautiful spot with an endless view, and our room was lovely and very clean. The owners and staff made us feel welcome and were so friendly that it was like staying with friends. I’d definitely recommend spending as long here as you can.
