Italia Hotel

The hotel is in a good spot, but the staff were very unfriendly and the service at reception and housekeeping was bad. When I came down for breakfast at 7 o’clock, they said it was too early. The spread wasn't very rich, they skimped on napkins, it was the same every day, and they even served old items from the previous breakfast. At check-in, my room had defective air conditioning. They didn't help me move, and it took an hour for them to change my room. I asked reception not to clean, but to leave fresh towels every day, and they couldn't manage that. I also sent the hotel a message via Booking and got no answer. This is like a 2 star hotel, not a 3 star one.

For one night it was okay, but I wouldn’t stay longer or say it was worth the price. The location is excellent, walkable to the center, great restaurants and bars, and breakfast has lots of choices, either indoors or on the terrace. The bed was comfortable, but the room was very basic and dated, and didn't look like the booking photos. The shower was tiny, with no organizer or soap holder, so our shower gel had to sit on the floor. The fridge and air conditioning barely cooled, and the hair dryer barely worked. There was also a strange smell in the hallway.

The view was awful, really disgusting, especially for a long term stay. They said it wasn't part of the hotel, but how could they rent the room for long term with a view like that? When we complained, the manager behaved terribly. He wouldn't talk to us or explain anything, and seemed to just want us gone. We complained again the next day and were given an even worse room, with a bad view inside and a horrible smell. Reception staff were unprofessional. They either don't speak English, don't want to, or pretend not to understand. They don't say hello, just stare, hand over the key and avoid eye contact. Breakfast was unbelievably poor, just boiled eggs, no scrambled eggs, bacon or sausage. The only fruit was apple pieces in plastic cups, nothing else. Everything was cold, including the staff. We couldn't sit on the terrace because they were too lazy to clean it, and they shut the door an hour before breakfast service ended. One of the worst hotel experiences. Definitely not recommended for a long term stay. A complete disaster.

Downtown location is the one good thing about this place. The room was small and old style, and needs refurnishing. It had no exterior view, just a window onto the skylight duct. Breakfast covers the very basics. Just accommodation, and not enough to meet demanding expectations.
