Michele at the front desk was always upbeat and ready to help, and the family who own the hotel were exceptionally kind to me as a solo female traveler. I'll never forget them. I enjoyed my extended stay at Palazzo Boyle in Cagliari's Castello region. The quiet location made for good sleep, and the mattresses, sheets, and pillows were outstanding. The old palazzo still has much of its original splendor, with very large rooms, marble floors, wide views over Cagliari, deep tubs with separate showers, and an industrial interior design. A few things kept it from feeling like a five-star stay: the shampoo and soap selection was very limited and not five-star quality, the bathrooms had almost no shelves or storage for personal things, and the restaurant had limited options for people with specific dietary needs, with sugar, gluten, dairy, and meat prevalent. Services were limited in the off-season. The hotel may also be difficult for older adults or anyone with limited mobility, since there's a steep climb to even reach the elevator up to the Castello district, and there are staircases throughout.

Mario is a national treasure. From the moment I came into the lobby, the staff made me feel genuinely cared for, like my uncle was welcoming me home. My trip had several problems completely unrelated to Palazzo Boyl, and the team went out of their way to accommodate me more than once. We loved it so much that we gave up one leg of our trip and prepaid nights elsewhere to stay longer. The facilities and location are just as outstanding as they look in the pictures online. I won't consider another hotel when I visit Cagliari, and I'd make a special trip just to see this hotel and its people again. Palazzo Boyl sets the standard for me in Italy.

The generous, fresh breakfasts were served with care, and the interiors balance the historic palace's charm with modern comfort. The central location is hard to beat, with breathtaking views of the port, rooftops, and sunsets that will stay with you. Palazzo Boyl 1840 is a true Cagliari gem. Michele at reception deserves a special thank you. He's professional, always smiling, and ready to help, from check-in to sharing insider tips about the city. From the moment you arrive, you feel like a valued guest. If you're looking for something special, let yourself be pampered here. That view will stay with you long after you leave.

The staff were so kind and helpful, and breakfast and coffee were tasty and beautifully presented. The room had lovely Aqua di Parma toiletries, plus a bath and shower in the middle of the spacious room and great views from the windows. It's a charming hotel with an antiquated touch and a nice location for exploring Cagliari. The room got a bit too warm at night, though, and quite a lot of noise came through the windows in the windy weather.

The restaurant, dishes, and all the care put into the rooms were wonderful. I loved the mix of modern touches and palazzo style throughout. The building's position is a five-star one, and the manager, Cecilia, Michele, and Nadia all hold things to an extremely high standard. I've travelled a lot and never found this kind of quality before. I'd have given 10 or 20 stars if I could. I'm grateful for everything, and I'll write some articles about the dream we're living in Cagliari.
