Relais La Lanterne

The rooms are nice, but that's about the only good thing I can say. We waited two hours to check in because there was no reception. Service and communication were poor, and the staff were unpleasant and arrogant in person and on the phone. They took a 400 EUR deposit for a three-night stay, which is more than even five-star hotels charge. Getting to our room meant hauling our luggage up five flights of stairs with no elevator. The cleaning ladies clearly can't clean. Whenever we asked for something, we got the strange excuse, “Oh, but this is not a hotel, it's an Airbnb,” even though they charge more than hotels.

A terrible experience that ended in a shameful exchange with the owner. He deliberately lied to me about being able to get a free cancellation through booking so I could change the date, and then went as far as blocking my number. I strongly advise against staying here. They seem to treat tourist hospitality purely as a way to make money, with no care for the customer. Thankfully, not everyone in Sardinia is like Mr. Alessandro. Tourism should mean real hospitality. He deserves all the terrible ratings.

The room was okay, and the location is close to the city center, but the service was awful. The booking rating is too high. There is no reception. They asked what time we'd arrive, but even though I sent them our arrival time, we waited outside for half an hour. When I called from the entrance, the receptionist said he was busy elsewhere and a colleague would meet us in 15 minutes. Once he showed up, he asked for our documents and credit card before showing us the room. He was very rude and said we could leave if we didn't want to stay, pointing to the doorway and saying we'd have to pay a refusal fee if we cancelled. He repeated that we had to follow their steps and were free to go if we wouldn't. I've never had a welcome like that in Italy. They also asked to freeze 250 euro on the card as a deposit. Because of how rude the service was, I won't return and don't recommend this place at all.

Communication was difficult, and the check-in and check-out times weren't very flexible. Every extra service costs more, including beach towels and luggage storage. And the cockroach invasion was something else. I won't be coming back.
