We came all the way from Azerbaijan to try Franco Pepe’s pizzas at Pepe in Grani. Franco Pepe himself was warm and welcoming. Inside, the restaurant has a lovely, cosy atmosphere, which feels quite different from quiet Caiazzo, where some areas seem partly abandoned. We tried the “Wrong Margherita” and “Scarpetta.” The dough was okay, though the cornicione was a little sticky and had a noticeable yeast smell. The toppings, on the other hand, were amazingly good. You could really taste the quality, and they impressed me more than the dough. There’s a good selection of wine and beer, too. I also had the best tiramisu of my life, absolutely outstanding. It was a good experience overall, with quality ingredients, a beautiful atmosphere and a memorable dessert, even if the dough didn’t quite meet my expectations.

Service could have been better: they took my plate while I was still eating. We tried the tasting menu and loved the appetizers, sensazione di costiera and ciro, along with the desserts, crisommola del vesuvio and cerasella. There were five different pizze, including the famous one. The scarpetta was great, while the others were just okay. I’d like to go back, but probably skip the tasting menu since it was too much food. After the third pizza, it was hard to enjoy what came next.

Pepe in Grani is a destination worth going out of your way for, and one of the most memorable meals of my trip. Whether you just like pizza or are a serious enthusiast, it’s worth visiting at least once. The pizza is outstanding: the dough is light and balanced, the ingredients are exceptional, and every bite is a pleasure. You can feel the craft, passion, and creativity in every detail. Highly recommended!

We booked lunch on WhatsApp and found the place extremely busy. It’s about a 45 minute drive from Napoli, and well worth it if you’re in the area. Every dish was a 10/10, and the staff were incredibly friendly. It was my favorite restaurant during my time near Napoli. We parked in a paid lot about a 5-10 minute walk away. Grazie Mille!

That dough was unlike anything I’ve tried before: amazing flavor and texture, and so light to digest. The staff also helped me find a room at a reasonable price so I could stay overnight. Amazing place, absolutely worth it.
