There was plenty of breakfast, though most of it seemed to come from Lidl. Our room had a strange, noisy air conditioner and an old bathroom, and the garden was untidy and overrun with mosquitoes. The only thing that seemed to have been updated in the house was the price: we paid 70€/night. The B&B is in the middle of nowhere, too far to walk to Calasetta port, and there was neither working Wi-Fi nor cell service. It might suit someone wanting to cut off contact with civilization. Our host, Giovanni, was much too chatty for my taste, almost irritating, while his wife was polite and discreet. One night we had to put up with Giovanni's karaoke until midnight. I also feel his opinion of guests depends on their reviews. The day after we posted a bad review on Booking, he sent us rude messages. I don't think that's professionally correct. P.S. A month later, here's Giovanni's reply to my review of Bella Calasetta: "Quando gli ospiti sono irritanti sporchi e maleducati possono scrivere quello che vogliono ma sempre piccole persone resteranno. Stai bene a casa tua con il tuo amico. Per ultimo scrivi come mangi fai sfoggio di una lingua che neppure conosci. Se vuoi ulteriori chiarimenti vieni pure qua e io che ho le palle che tu non hai te li darò" I still think Giovanni's behavior isn't professionally correct. :-(

The rooms were clean and came with private bathrooms, walk-in closets, TVs, and kettles. Breakfast, served in the garden, was delicious and varied. My partner and I have just had a three-day stay at Bella Calasetta and couldn't be happier. Gianni, his wife Simone, and little Bruno made us feel completely at home and were impeccable hosts. The property is close to the beaches, yet has the peaceful feel of the countryside. There's a huge free parking area, air conditioning, a refrigerator, and clotheslines. Dinner is available at the B&B if requested. Pets are welcome, and they can make friends with Nerone, the very friendly Labrador. This is going to become a regular summer stay for me.

We spent a couple of nights there with our Labrador. Mr. Gianni was helpful and welcoming from the very beginning, just as you'd expect from a true islander. If we're in the area, we'll be back next year. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone wanting a break from everyday life and some time in nature.

I've never stayed somewhere so unsuitable for guests, starting with the owner. What was promised over the phone wasn't actually there. I think he should find another job. The place didn't have the advertised bike rental or washing machine, and breakfast hadn't been adjusted for COVID. Everyone handled the bread, the cakes weren't homemade but from a discount store, and the croissants had been reheated twice. In nine days I saw quite enough. We would have left if any other accommodation had been available. We only ate breakfast at the B&B on the first day, then went to a bar instead. The hygiene was poor, and there were open drains. The poor dog was left alone all day, so we guests had to take care of it, among other things. I can already imagine Mr. Gianni saying everything is up to standard, as he does in response to all the negative reviews. 80 euros a day for what? Campsites are much better.

Simone helps run B&B Bella Calasetta with courtesy and professionalism. Her husband, Gianni Rombi, is a Calasetta native who knows the natural and marine corners of Calasetta and Carloforte, along with the history of both places and the Sulcis region and beyond. He can share advice and help you get to know the area, its history, and traditions. The B&B sits in the countryside, two minutes from town, on the way to beautiful beaches and clear sea.
