As soon as we drove up, we had a feeling this would be somewhere special. Locanda al Colle sits among the Tuscan hills, yet is close to the beach and Pisa airport, and it was exactly what we wanted for a short break. There are no TVs in the rooms or elsewhere on site, which made switching off feel refreshing. The nearby beach club partnership is a clever extra. We also stayed in a section that could work well as a three-bedroom apartment, with a kitchenette, dining room and living room as the shared centre. One evening we ate on the terrace. The food was outstanding, and chatting with the chef there made it feel personal. The shared open kitchen was a treat, with water, tea, coffee and freshly baked goods available throughout the day. Such a thoughtful touch. The team were warm and attentive from start to finish. I travel a lot and work in hospitality, and I’ve never had better customer service. We had a truly special stay, and I’ll be telling people to visit.

We’ve been returning to Locanda al Colle since 2018, and it’s really Riccardo, Gianlucca and the whole team who keep bringing us back. From arrival, you feel relaxed, comfortable and safe. Everything is cared for with so much love and effort, from the furnishings and cooking to the way the place is kept up. The breakfast is sensational, made fresh each day and adjusted to what each guest likes and needs. The rooms are always spotless, with ongoing renovations and improvements, and they’re furnished so thoughtfully that nothing feels missing. The outdoor pool deserves a mention too. It’s heated to a lovely temperature and blends into the landscape with real taste. Fantastic, in a nutshell. We arrived at the last minute to start our honeymoon, and they welcomed both us and our dog so warmly. We felt like royalty. The service was impeccable, and since it’s a small boutique hotel, they can take care of even the tiniest details in a personal, sincere way. And the food was to die for. We’ll definitely be back. My four days at Locanda del Colle seemed to stand outside time. It brought to mind the Danish series Seaside Hotel, where people come back each year because the place feels like home. I understand that feeling now, and would return in a heartbeat. It’s a beautifully restored Tuscan villa with just twelve rooms, renovated with such care that every detail feels considered, refined and quietly luxurious. What stays with you most is the staff: genuinely warm, gracious and attentive, always there in just the right way. They made everything feel easy and personal.

The scenery is stunning, and the food was incredible. Ricardo and the team made us feel so welcome and looked after. After busy days out, the heated pool was just right. Sitting with a Negroni and watching that amazing sunset before dinner is hard to beat. I’ll definitely come back. Thank you, Ricardo and all the wonderful staff, for making our stay spectacular ❤️
