Hotel Nuovo Tirreno

Being near the beach doesn’t make this worth the price. We booked ahead and weren’t supposed to pay until check-in, but the place looked nothing like the Expedia photos and gave me a bad feeling as soon as I walked in. At check-in, we were told they don’t take Amex. I was asking whether we had to pay then or later and what the debit card charge was for, such as incidentals, but she charged the card without answering. She knew what she was doing. The room was muggy, hot, tiny, and nothing like the pictures. The sheets looked dirty, and the bathroom was small and below average. This was meant to fit two adults and two children. In my 44 years, I’ve never seen a more underwhelming room. The wall AC didn’t work. She came up, tried to fix it, and insisted it was starting to work, but it was July and we were sweating badly. An hour later, it still wasn’t working. We said we were declining the stay and would ask Expedia for a refund. Expedia contacted her to request a refund, but she refused until she had booked someone else into that room. She was rude and showed no customer service. We’ve since disputed the charge with our credit card company. Do yourself a favor and don’t stay here just because the beach is walkable. It isn’t worth any rate they offer.

The bathroom floor was flooded, and there wasn’t a shelf for toiletries or even a glass for a toothbrush. In winter, the heating only worked for an hour. The blankets had no covers, and everyone was given the same dirty blanket, with hair and stains from the previous guest. The hotel was very dirty. We were still hungry after breakfast. The salami and cheese were sliced so thin you could see through them, there wasn’t enough bread, and the coffee didn’t deserve to be called coffee. The women serving ignored the shortage of food and were rude and angry, throwing trays in front of a group of 56 people. I’ve never stayed somewhere worse and don’t recommend it.

I was there as a tour guide with 43 people. The location is one I love, and I’ve stayed there many times, so I may come back to the area. But this was the worst hotel I’ve ever seen, and I’ll never stay at your hotel again. The rooms were dirty, and breakfast was just a piece of croissant and cold coffee. The woman on the night shift sent my people to a restaurant where they tried to cheat my customers. I hope the hotel is rescued from you guys as soon as possible. Thanks for ruining my tour!

We ended up spending more time outside than in the hotel because of how old and dirty it was. The mattresses and linens were dirty, the hygiene was poor, the room phone didn’t work, and the AC only worked some of the time. There was mold on the bedroom and bathroom walls, which will make you sick. The food was only edible, nothing more. Hotel staff went through our bags. At least it’s very close to the ocean, with nice bars and places to eat nearby. It may be a 3 star hotel, but that doesn’t excuse how filthy it is.
