Hotel Cenobio Dei Dogi

The private beach was the highlight for me. The lifeguards were kind, helpful, and went out of their way to make my afternoons there great. Service at the pool and beach was excellent too. I also enjoyed an aperitivo on the terrace and coffee by the pool. Camogli itself is a gem, and the hotel is lovely, with beautiful rooms and spaces. It's tucked at one end of town, but the rest is only a few minutes away on foot. My room was lovely, although it had no pool or sea view because the hotel was full. I imagine a sea-view room would have made the stay even better. I gave service four stars because the front desk was much less welcoming, with little engagement and a slightly annoyed manner. That stood out against the great service elsewhere. Better service across the whole hotel would lift the experience.

We had a lovely room with a terrace by the pool, and the food, from breakfast through dinner, was delicious. It's just one street down from the train station, and there's a lift as well. The property is large, beautiful, and very well kept. Before we arrived, the staff were already friendly and helpful, arranging boating charters, finding a local photographer, and booking dinners for us. Thanks, Paola. If we come back to Camogli, we'd definitely stay here again. It was perfect.

The staff were friendly, though rather impersonal. When we came into the hotel, they barely looked up to greet us. Maybe they were tired at the end of the season. We'd booked a very dark room with just one window. Its balcony had a high wall, so you had to stand to see out. We switched to a much nicer room with an ocean view, but it cost an extra 560 euro for four nights. The hotel was nice.

We keep coming back because the location is world class, and the good points outweigh the bad. The food and drinks are fabulous, especially the early evening aperitivo on the porch. Food service deserves five stars. The front desk, though, barely avoids being openly rude. They speak to us condescendingly, which is puzzling, and their service struggles to earn even one star. The rooms also feel worn and need an upgrade. Even so, we'll return.
