Hotel La Vela

The bed was comfortable, and depending on your room, you get lovely views of either the mountains or harbour. It takes about ten minutes to walk to the harbour, then another fifteen minutes by bus to Portofino. The room was pleasant, quirky, and adequate, though not at all modern. Staff were very friendly, and breakfast had enough variety for most people. The car parking was very tight, but management handled it well and didn't waste any space. We're from the UK and expected a kettle in each room for making tea or coffee, but after staying in Italy for five days across three hotels or apartments, we realized that's not the norm there.

The staff were fine, perhaps because I speak Italian, and they weren't rude at all. The room itself was okay, though not the cleanest. But the cleaning team left it unlocked, and my wife noticed a lingering smell of cigarette smoke.

We loved our stay in this cozy castle hotel, with its scenic views and great location. The center is a short walk away, and there's a bus stop for Portofino nearby. Staff helped arrange e-bikes for our ride to Portofino, and they were helpful throughout. Breakfast was very good, with plenty of choices, and we enjoyed our morning coffee by our scenic.

The hotel is close to the main part of town, and we enjoyed our stay. The price and location were good, everyone on staff was welcoming, and I liked the breakfast buffet. Parking is included on site. Because it's an old building, though, there's no soundproofing in the rooms, so keep that in mind if you're a light sleeper. I'd recommend it.
